YOUR TRAINING

Build routines and track workouts

Log sets, use rest timers, review results, and bring over your workout history.

Choose Workouts in the switch beside the Gramello logo. Routines holds reusable sessions; History holds completed workouts. Your routines, custom exercises, and workout history stay on your device, with no Gramello account needed.

Build a routine

  1. In Routines, tap New routine and give it a name.
  2. Tap Add exercise to search the built-in exercises or create a custom exercise.
  3. Enter your target sets. Each exercise shows the measurements it uses: weight and reps, reps only, time, weight and time, or time and distance.
  4. Use Options to adjust measurements and rest duration for each exercise.
  5. Tap Save routine.

For a custom exercise, enter a name and optional information. Choose optional Muscle groups to assign primary and secondary muscles, then choose Measurements per set. Save & add exercise saves the reusable definition and adds it to the current workout or routine draft. Muscle selections are stored with the exercise definition and are included in backups and training summaries. Editing assignments updates grouping across history. Leave them empty to keep the custom exercise unclassified.

Drag exercise handles to change their order. Swipe a set left to reveal Delete, then tap it to remove that set. Starting a routine copies its targets into a new session. Later changes to the routine do not change saved workouts.

Log a session

Tap Start workout on a routine, or choose History → Log workout to begin from scratch. The session starts when you tap the button.

  • Enter each set's measurements and mark it complete. Previous-set values help you refer to earlier sessions while logging.
  • Completing a set starts that exercise's rest timer. Use −15s, +15s, or Skip rest to adjust the current break. Set rest to zero in Options to turn it off for an exercise.
  • Tap Minimize to use Food or Settings. The active-workout bar lets you resume the same session, including its running rest timer.
  • Tap Finish to review the workout name, notes, and optional session rating. Back to workout returns to your sets. Save workout adds it to History.

You need at least one completed set to save. If sets remain incomplete, Finish lets you remove those sets before continuing. An unfinished session is a separate draft and is not included in your portable backup.

Keep your next set in view

On supported iPhones, a Live Activity shows your next set and rest countdown on the lock screen and Dynamic Island where available. Tap it to resume your active workout. Finishing or discarding the session ends the status. On Android, the active session uses an ongoing notification when notification access is allowed.

In Settings → Workouts → Rest reminders, choose Off, Sound, or Spoken next set. Spoken reminders use a suitable installed device voice; when one is unavailable, Gramello uses a chime. Follow the app's permission prompts when enabling reminders. Lock-screen status and background reminders require an installed app build with support and the relevant device permissions.

Choose units and effort ratings

Open Settings → Workouts → Workout data and choose Pounds (lb) or Kilograms (kg). The choice saves automatically and applies to routines, logging, and History; it does not rewrite the recorded weights.

Turn on Track RPE if you want to record perceived effort for each set. Tap the set's RPE button, choose a rating, and tap Apply. Applying a rating also marks that logged set complete. Turning RPE off hides it without deleting ratings already saved. The optional session rating at Finish is separate from set RPE.

Review and share your results

Saving opens your workout results. You can also open History → View workout to review a saved session. Results show duration, sets, exercises, and relevant measurements such as training volume or distance, plus a workout transcript.

Swipe through achievements to explore your session. Records compare against earlier workouts; a first session establishes a baseline. Warmup sets do not count toward exercise records. Use Share workout for a session summary or Share achievement for an individual achievement image.

Choose Edit workout to correct a saved session. History offers Save as routine for workouts that are not already associated with a routine.

Bring over history from Hevy

  1. In Hevy, export your workout CSV in English.
  2. Open Settings → Workouts → Workout data → Import Hevy in Gramello.
  3. Select the CSV and review the session, exercise, and set counts and dates.
  4. Tap Import workouts to merge it into History, or Cancel.

Already imported sessions are skipped. This is a history import, not account syncing, and it does not automatically create routines. Keep a backup before making large changes. See back up and move your data.

Export workouts to Apple Health

On iOS, open Settings → Workouts and turn on Export workouts in the Apple Health card. Grant workout write access when prompted. Export is optional; local tracking works without it. Newly completed workouts export their activity category and start/end times. Existing history and Hevy imports are excluded; sets, weights, reps, RPE, calories, and heart rate are not exported. Edits and deletions of exported sessions synchronize while export is on. Turning export off keeps existing health records.

On supported Android devices, the equivalent option uses Health Connect. Availability depends on the installed app build and device. Gramello does not read health records through this feature or write food and water to the health app.

Keep your training backed up

Settings → Data & backups → Export backup includes routines, custom exercises, completed workouts, and workout units and RPE preferences alongside your food and water data. Backups do not include unfinished sessions. Keep an accessible copy before changing phones or removing the app.
